MetroEDGE

MetroEDGE is Sacramento’s young professionals program dedicated to the city’s under 40 movers and shakers. The organization is a key component of the Sacramento Metro Chamber Foundation. I have been actively involved for 5+ years, leading the planning of many key events, sitting on active committees, and serving as chair and co-chair of the Empower committee. I have always had a passion to contribute to my community. Working with MetroEDGE provided the perfect platform to both give back to the city, while also fulfilling my desire to help others.

In the time I’ve been involved in MetroEDGE, I am most proud of the key events that I initiated to create opportunities for education in our community on key regional issues such as housing and rent control, systematic racism, and other socio-political matters.

YEARLY IMMERSION DAY EVENT

Immersion Day is one of Metro EDGE’s biggest regional advocacy events. As the name suggests, this is a day where EDGErs immerse themselves in a particular regional topic and get to hear from key executives from the industry or initiative, visiting important sites related to the theme for a hands-on understanding of the topic.

IMMERSION DAY 2018: HOUSING ON THE EDGE

Housing On The EDGE covered complex issues and provided a deep dive into the housing climate in California, specifically in the Sacremtno region. Local industry leaders spoke to this topic, including creating dialogue around important issues like subsidized housing, rent control, and housing insecurity. This event also included exclusive site visits to existing and upcoming developments in Sacramento.

IMMERSION DAY 2019: GROWING A REGION

Sacramento has experienced tremendous growth in the past ten years. But what has that done for the city and region at large? This year’s Immersion Day, studied the growth of the region and explored how developments in transportation, arts/culture, food/agriculture, education, accessibility, affordable housing, and real estate has impacted Sacramento’s people and influenced what’s to come. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with leaders who have supported various initiatives aimed at investing in Sacramento and Sacramento's communities, but more importantly, bring ideas to the table to start a conversation on what Sacramento should be. This hands-on experience took attendees on a half day adventure around the city which resulted in deeper connections, understanding, and empowerment around the city’s potential.
